Muaz decided to be a "real" boy. I almost cried seeing his hair drop to the floor.
Meanwhile Mariam is selected for the selection process of under 12 KL hockey players.
Now i am worried about her UPSR preparation...but i cannot not allow her to go...sigh
Well, well!-it looks like someone has another blog and she kept quiet about it. Actually I had accidentally stumbled onto this one - was looking for the one with the Waterworld post and I saw this (have to write TWO press releases plus edit THREE articles before 9AM, and I'm sleepy... but I have to write this one first).
ReplyDeleteIt's too late to give my five cents worth about Mariam and the hockey team. Well, you are her mother, and whichever decision a parent makes is "the right one".
This is the opinion of a former teacher AND hockey coach too: Kelantan runnersup and champion in 1982-83. At a time when everyone was playing the 5-3-2 system (5 forwards 3 halfs, 2 backs), this "think out of the box" coach played a "choke the middle" 2-3-1-3-1 which was more productive, besides confusing everyone (including staff from my own school haha).
See my logic? The opponents' 5 in front NEVER come down, so we have to deal with only the other 5. My original 2 stay up - during attacks, the two flanks behind move up, so it's 4. The "1" behind supports the remaining, so it's two direct support. ALL three defenders move up, and are now halfs (they can quickly come down again)... and the last man, move any direction he thinks fit should there be a counter attack. Crazy system? Then how did I carry the trophy back to Pasir Mas?:-) BTW one of my players made it to the National Under-23; Mohd Rafidi Idris (with MBf then).
I know you have a headache there, so this is about Mariam: Take it from me that these students who played for the state often/always do as well as the rest in the exams (SRP & SPM). It depends mostly *on the student*, not "the theoretical time for studies".
There's this Law of the universe, I'd say - "There's always enough time"... in most cases. If one's a "5A" student, he'll get those, regardless. But that's okay - as I had said, a parent's decision is always correct, so no need to think about it now.
